Several players made the journey to Nottingham for the Under 17 Silver over the weekend on the hunt for national success. Skye McCrimmond secured the first medal of the day with Bronze in the girls singles event. Skye squeezed through Group E by virtue of countback on sets won with all 3 girls tied with a win and a loss each. This was followed by a 3 set quarter final win securing the Bronze medal before being stopped in the Semi-Final by eventual tournament winner Tamsin Betts from Leicestershire.
The mens doubles duo Ben Kemp and Jacob Weekes continued the success in the boys doubles event in the afternoon easing through their group securing their place in the knockout stages. The boys found things a bit tougher here edging through their quarter final before losing out in 3 sets to the no.2 seeded pair who went on to win the final in straight sets. The boys were unlucky to lose out here and can take pride in the 3 set loss.
Kemp had a busy day also making the quarter finals of the boys singles and taking another bronze medal in the mixed doubles event. Being favourite in the mixed doubles Ben might have hoped for better but lost out in the semi-finals being edged out in 3 sets by a pair from Essex.
Well done to all the medal winners and everyone who competed over the weekend in Nottingham.
